The Jungle presents an opportunity to ruminate on the changes we have undergone in just one generation. Not yet nostalgic, but certainly reflective, The Jungle reveals the banal bourgeois values that have, in a relatively short period, taken over our town.”

Spend 24 incredible hours in the heart of Sydney’s underbelly. This unexpectedly funny journey travels through the interconnected worlds of washed-up rock stars, drug-dealers, bent cops, prostitutes and opera-goers.

From Louis Nowra, the acclaimed writer of CosiThe Golden AgeSummer of the Aliensand the extraordinary film Map of the Human Heart.

Fast paced, totally absorbing drama that is laced with black humour, this is Louis Nowra at his best! The Jungle is an epic and moving experience, guaranteed to elicit knowing smiles and laughter from Sydney locals and theatre-goers.

Pulp Fiction meets Magnolia in this voyeuristic glimpse of a Sydney that you always knew was there!

DIRECTOR’S NOTE

GLEN HAMILTON

I have lived in the Kings Cross area for more than twenty years.

I remember the sounds and lights of what feels now like a bygone era of artisans and those living on society's fringe. These were colourful people in an equally colourful environment of late night bars, strip clubs and underground venues - a place of unapologetic beauty.

The Jungle sits deeply within the underbelly of Kings Cross - pre gentrification. The characters are as colourful as the neon signs that lined Darlinghurst Road and behind the glow, there is always a deeper story to be told.

Each of the actors have committed with heart to this process and it is through them that the darkness shines as brightly as the iridescent vulgarity of The Cross of the last millennium. It has been my pleasure to play a part in re-living these golden years and indeed, my own youth.

I hope you enjoy the shadows, colour and spectacle that is, The Jungle.
